ERASER
For What? You didn’t do anything wrong.
PENCIL
I’m sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you’re always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time.
ERASER
That’s true. But I don’t really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I’ll be gone and you’ll replace me with a new one, I’m actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad.
I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational. Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil. They’re always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes. Sometimes along the way, they get hurt, and become smaller / older, and eventually pass on. Though their children will eventually find someone new (spouse), but parents are still happy with what they do for their children, and will always hate seeing their precious ones worrying, or sad.
Once a person asked the Prophet:
“Who deserves the best care from Me?”
The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) replied:
“Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother, and then your Father..” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
ننصحك بالسير على طريق الخير، وإن كان فيه قلة في السالكين، وتجنب طريق الغواية، ولا تغتر بكثرة الهالكين، ولا تقل ما بال الدنيا مظلمة، ولكن قل ها أنذا مضيئ، واترك السلبية، وتجنب التقليد والمحاكاة. وعليك بتقوى الله، فإن الله يتولى أهلها وييسر لهم أمورهم، وأشغل نفسك بذكر الله وطاعته، واعمل الخير تعرف به، وعليك بالصالحين، فإن لم تجد فاجعل كتاب الله لك جليسا وأنيسا، فإنه جليس لا يمل، وصاحب لا يغش، وكن مطيعاً لوالديك، وصول لرحمك، واحفظ عينك ولسانك، وتمسك بأخلاقك. والله الموفق
We advise you to stay on the path of goodness; even if there are a few in numbers who follow it. Stay away from the path of whims and desires; even if the majority of people have taken it. Don't say why is life full of darkness; but say, here I am, and act as a guiding light. Leave pessimism, negative imitations, and fruitless discussions. Be pious; indeed Allaah looks after the pious ones. Focus on remembering Allaah and His obedience; do good, you'll be known by it. Stay with the righteous company; if there are none, sufficient it is the Book of Allaah as your companion. Verily, its' companion does not despair, or be led astray. Be kind to your parents and reach for the next of kin. Lower your gaze; be conscious of your words, and be steadfast holding on to the best of moral conducts. May Allaah give the success, amen.
